Mercedes C63 AMG Dunlop-Performance by Wimmer RS

Wimmer RS has released a special package for the Mercedes C63 AMG brand called Dunlop-Performance. This C63 AMG Dunlop-Performance with its 190 mph (308 kmph, high speed cut) is as fast as a sports car.

Designed to compete in the Tuner’s Grand Prix on the Hockenheimring (where it took second place), the car features a revised ECU, a new exhaust manifold, improved air intake tubes and a K&N air filter. These changes enable the 6.3-liter (6,208cc) engine to produce 540 hp (403 kW / 548 PS) – an increase of 53 hp (40 kW / 54 PS).

Acceleration 0-60 mph in a Mercedes C63 AMG Wimmer RS Performance Dunlop takes only 4.4 seconds (0-120 mph in 12 seconds), while the top speed electronically limited to 190 mph (308 km / h). To obtain better stability and handling of the Mercedes C63 AMG Wimmer RS Dunlop Performance coilover sports clubs receive KW3 chassis, while the 19-inch wheels come wrapped in Dunlop tires Sportmaxx GT.

In order to optimize the contact between vehicle and asphalt without restrictions in racing sports and on the roads, Wimmer RS has employed a KW3 Club sports coilover chassis.

Production version of Chevrolet Aveo RS Revealed

Chevrolet has unveiled the first images and details for the 2012 Aveo.

The new Chevrolet Aveo include the aggressive looking front with its exposed twin-headlamps and dual port grille, compact taut body panels with a rising shoulder line and short rear overhangs, the ‘hidden’ rear door handles which now feature in the c-pillar and a ‘body in, wheels out’ profile which is now very much part of the new Chevrolet design language.

The Chevrolet Aveo will be powered by from a variety of engines, which ranged from a 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine (70 horsepower production) to a 1.6-liter gasoline four-cylinder engine (115 horsepower). And lastly, the 138-hp, 1.4-liter turbocharged Ecotec four-cylinder engine, which will appear in the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze as well.

Inside, the cabin features a motorcycle-inspired instrument cluster (likely from the Spark), blue accent lighting, a wrap-around dashboard, and audio systems with USB / Bluetooth connectivity. Thanks to a longer and wider chassis, interior room is now among the best in its class.

Full details and pricing will be released closer to the launch date, which will be sometime next year. There will also be an Aveo sedan, as there is now, though for the Paris show, Chevy is showing only the five-door hatchback model.

Press Release

  • Full production Aveo world debuts at Paris Motor Show
  • Dynamic design stays true to show car concept
  • New Aveo to be launched in summer 2011
  • Comprehensive engine line-up includes 1.3 liter diesel engine and 6-speed transmissions
  • Aveo is one of four Chevrolet world premieres at the Paris Motor Show

There is no shortage of world firsts for Chevrolet at the forthcoming Paris Motor Show, and joining the Orlando MPV and Cruze hatchback show car will be the eagerly awaited Chevrolet Aveo 5-door, which like the Orlando makes its world production debut.

The Aveo RS show car was displayed at the Detroit and Geneva motor shows earlier in 2010, and with the final production-ready model, Chevrolet has a car that looks every bit as good as the earlier concept.

Entering the highly competitive global small car segment, striking design elements of the new Chevrolet Aveo include the aggressive looking front with its exposed twin-headlamps and dual port grille, compact taut body panels with a rising shoulder line and short rear overhangs, the 'hidden' rear door handles which now feature in the c-pillar and a 'body in, wheels out' profile which is now very much part of the new Chevrolet design language.

Reminiscent of the recently introduced Spark, the new Aveo is unquestionably a car that will appeal to younger customers with its sporty hot-hatch look. A four-door sedan variant will launch alongside the hatch next summer. Both hatch and sedan are practical small cars with good interior space and Chevrolet expects the new Aveo also to appeal to families, for whom the current model has been a popular purchase.

The new Chevrolet Aveo has benefited from an extensive development program, resulting in a small car that will meet European drivers’ tastes both in terms of design and dynamics. Final specifications of the new Aveo will be carefully tailored to each European market.

Wayne Brannon, president and managing director of Chevrolet Europe says: "It's just such an exciting time to be at Chevrolet; not only do we have new entries into the MPV and compact classes, in Aveo we have a car which is ready to compete against the best in the small car segment, which is also Europe's largest segment."

The new Aveo is longer and wider than the current model, giving it a spacious interior and cargo volume that is among best in class. The interior design perhaps holds even more surprises than the outside, in particular the motorcycle-inspired instrument binnacle which features an analogue tachometer combined with a digital speedo and warning lights.

Up-market blue backlighting features on the center console while the whole of the front cabin is enveloped in a wrap-round fascia. This can be color-coded and flows from the dash into both the driver's and front passenger’s doors. Aveo customers will appreciate the quality materials used in the interior as well as multiple storage spaces in the center stack and the modern audio system with USB, aux-in and Bluetooth functionality.

Reflecting the little Chevrolet’s sporty personality, Aveo has been engineered to provide involving handling, a characteristic which stems partly from its tight body frame integral (BFI) structure where high torsional rigidity has been achieved - among the stiffest in the small car segment.

The new Aveo's chassis has been fine tuned to satisfy European tastes with a ride and handling ratio that combines comfort with responsiveness. Electronic power steering (EPS), Electronic stability control (ESC) and ABS brakes will be standard.

A comprehensive range of four cylinder petrol and diesel engines will be available in the new Chevrolet Aveo, incorporating the latest technologies such as variable valve timing, double continuous variable cam phasing and common rail fuel injection for the diesels.

The petrol engine range includes two 1.2 liter versions (at 70 hp and at 86hp), a 1.4 liter unit (100 hp) and a 1.6 liter (115hp). For the first time, Aveo will be offered with two versions of a 1.3 liter diesel engine (at 75 hp and at 95 hp) featuring Start/Stop technology.

Chevrolet's first 6-speed automatic transmission on a small car will feature on the Aveo 1.4 and 1.6 as an option in most markets; manual transmissions are of 5 or 6 speed depending on engine choice.

Press Release

Ford's all-new C-MAX will go on sale in the UK in October, priced from £16,745.

Both the sporty but spacious five-seater and the Grand, a versatile seven-seater, come with a simplified two-series line-up – Zetec and Titanium. Prices start from £16,745 for the C-MAX Zetec and £18,745 for the C-MAX Grand Zetec.

With almost two-thirds of UK buyers in this segment now seeking seven-seat flexibility, the Ford Grand C-MAX becomes the spiritual successor to today's model, which was also designed to maximise practicality. Priced from £18,745 for the 1.6-litre petrol 125PS Zetec, the Grand offers family-friendly flexibility, with the extra utility of twin sliding doors, versatile seating and improved engine efficiency - and all for just a £250 premium over today's model.

The Grand Zetec with 115PS 1.6-litre TDCi, the anticipated volume seller in the UK, is priced at £19,745 - £750 less than the outgoing equivalent.

The five-seat model will appeal to customers seeking more space than a regular family hatchback, but who do not want to sacrifice sporty design or driving dynamics. On the road prices start from £16,745 for the 1.6-litre petrol Zetec.

Mark Simpson, marketing director, Ford of Britain said: "When C-MAX was launched in 2003 it preserved all the brand's most important qualities including style, comfort and driving quality, but added more flexibility and space to the Focus package."

"Since then the market has expanded quite considerably with customers expressing a variety of needs. These are met with the family-friendly seven-seater and the sporty-but-spacious five-seater. The new Ford C-MAX and Grand C-MAX are priced to offer customers best value for money whilst still introducing many exciting new technologies which will feature on the all-new Focus due next year," he said.

Standard equipment on all models includes alloy wheels, air conditioning, leather steering wheel, Thatcham category one alarm, DAB radio/CD and Bluetooth with USB connectivity and voice control. Grand C-MAX has powered child-proof locks on the rear dual sliding doors, and rear parking sensors.

The Titanium trim supplements these features with auto front wipers and headlamps, dual electronic automatic temperature control, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, hill launch assist, keyless start, cruise control with speed limiter, premium Sony audio, and tyre deflation detection system. The Grand C-MAX Titanium also has power folding mirrors.

Customers will be offered a choice of three petrol engines and two diesel engines. Making its debut in the Ford C-MAX and Grand C-MAX is the all-new four-cylinder 1.6-litre 150PS Ford EcoBoost engine which comes with a new six-speed manual gearbox. This gearbox also accompanies the 1.6 TDCi and 2.0 TDCi powertrains, which are jointly projected to account for around 50 per cent of sales. For those preferring an automatic transmission, the dual-clutch Powershift six-speed automatic option is available with the 2.0 TDCi powertrain.
