Jaguar XJ75 Platinum Concept [Video]

Jaguar celebrate their 75th anniversary, unveiled the XJ75 Platinum Concept at the Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance. The new concept is the company's first demonstration of the design customization potential of the 2011 Jaguar XJ luxury sedan, emphasizing the car’s dramatic interior and exterior styling themes with a new array of striking modifications.

The XJ75 Platinum Concept is defined by a white and black contrast theme, new ground-hugging front, rear and side sills, exterior chrome elements painted in either a dark chrome or gloss black and 22" black wheels. The concept is painted in Satin Matte Pearlescent White.

As such, it uses a 464bhp/424lb ft tune of Jaguar’s supercharged 5-litre V8 petrol engine rather than the full-fat 503bhp/461lb ft version. Of the pair, only the latter is sold in the UK, and while both are marketed in the US, Jaguar’s decided to slot the milder engine into this concept.

Inside the car the same contrasting theme applies and you get gloss pearlescent white air vents, veneers and diamond stitch suede inserts to the seats and headliner, all set against the backdrop of a full Jet Softgrain leather interior. Suede and leather accents are seen throughout the interior to further material enhancements.

JAGUAR XJ75 PLATINUM CONCEPT COMMEMORATES BRAND'S 75th ANNIVERSARY

As part of the year long celebration of Jaguar's 75th anniversary the Jaguar design team has created the XJ75 Platinum Concept, a one-of-a-kind design project on display at the Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance Concept Car Lawn this weekend .

The XJ75 Platinum Concept is the company's first demonstration of the design customisation potential of the striking new XJ luxury salon, emphasising the Jaguar's dramatic interior and exterior styling themes.

"The new Jaguar XJ Platinum Concept celebrates Jaguar's 75th Anniversary, and highlights the uniqueness of the XJ, and more broadly, the increasingly personal nature of luxury cars in today's market," said Mike O'Driscoll, Managing Director of Jaguar Cars. "The XJ is thoroughly modern, and captures the innovative and daring character that our founder Sir William Lyons built into every Jaguar. And the design team clearly had some fun making their first one-of-a-kind XJ design concept in that spirit."

Dominated by a striking white and black contrast theme that suggests precious platinum metal, the XJ75 Platinum Concept is a high-performance 470-hp 2011 Jaguar XJL Supercharged equipped with new ground-hugging front, rear and side sills. Painted a lustrous Satin Matte Pearlescent White, exterior chrome elements have been revised to either a dark chrome or gloss black. Bespoke 22-inch wheels are black and use a brushed contrast finish.

The contrast theme continues with gloss pearlescent white air vents, veneers and diamond stitch suede inserts to the seats and headliner, all set against the backdrop of a full Jet Softgrain leather interior. Suede and leather accents are seen throughout the interior to further material enhancements.

The XJ75 Platinum Concept centre console houses a bespoke clock developed and designed in partnership with the Bremont Watch Company. An independent British company, Bremont creates beautifully engineered and designed mechanical watches hand assembled in Switzerland.

"From a pure design perspective, the XJ75 Platinum Concept is foremost about emphasising the striking proportion and presence of the new XJ, with a distilled black and white theme, which conjures up the sense of precious platinum," said Jaguar XJ Chief Designer Giles Taylor. "At the same time, the pure sporting character of XJ is brought to the fore by keeping the car's clean graphic approach and further lowering its stance.

"On the inside, we played up the XJ's combination of high-end materials and British flair to really have some fun. The XJ75 Platinum Concept is a design exercise that shows our vision of customization as an inspiration for those enthusiasts who have a taste for strong individuality and visual confidence in their luxury automobiles."

Performance on the XJ75 Platinum Concept is derived from its 5.0-litre Supercharged direct-injection V8 with 470 horsepower and 424 lb.-ft of torque. Entertainment is provided by a 1,200-watt Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system with 20 speakers powered through 15 channels and state-of-the-art sound processing technology.

2010 Kia Electric POP Concept

Kia is presenting a car concept ‘POP’ new all-electric mini at the 2010 Paris Motor Show in September, The model will shows an all-new compact electric concept car.

Kia will bring this year at Paris Motor Show a new concept, already predicted by several teaser images. The South Korean automaker plans to attract the public attention to an electric vehicle for urban areas, but adopting a non-conformist design, drawn by the same Peter Schreyer.

The Kia Pop is 10 feet long and defined by such cues as pincer-like headlights, a panoramic roof and oval side windows mounted on the diagonal. The tiny concept has LED lights and a power point in the rear. It is slightly longer than the tiny Toyota iQ. The cabin features a purple interior with a front bench for two and a rear seat for one.

The new Kia Pop are sketchy, but at 3m long and with a triple-seat arrangement, it could be that Kia has its sights set on creating a rival to the Toyota iQ. In fact, we can see from the bird's-eye shot that the seating plan mimics that of Toyota's baby with two positions in a front bench and a single rear seat behind the front passenger. Whether the Pop can replicate the tiny-footprint practicality of the iQ remains untested for now.

For all its progress in recent times, the Korean maker is currently lacking an electric or hybrid model in its western line-up, and a battery-powered city car would allow it to take the fight to Mitsubishi's i-MiEV and the forthcoming Peugeot iON.

2010 G-Power Hurricane RR BMW M5

G-Power has announced recently that their modified version of the M5, the G Power BMW M5 Hurricane RR, just managed to hit a record top speed of 372 km/h thus becoming the fastest four door sedan in the world! This makes the G-Power Hurricane RR BMW M5 the fastest four-door sedan in the world. The G-Power Hurricane RR BMW M5 is equipped with the tuner's SK III bi-supercharger engine that develops a massive 750 hp / 551 kW that has been further upgraded to 800 hp between 7,500 and 8,000 rpm and 800 Nm at 5,000 rpm.

They bolt not one, but two superchargers onto the V10 engine to get the jaw-dropping number, which they say takes the big sedan from zero to sixty in 4.3 seconds. A full aerodynamics package helps it get there, including front and rear splitters and spoilers and lower side skirts. Inside, they’ve replaced the tach (you’d have to, wouldn’t you?) and steering wheel, and added carbon fiber trim and new leather.

The RR uses better ASA T1-316 superchargers for its V10 engine which provide 25 percent more compressed air. The inner workings of the 10-cylinder, four-valve engine are optimised by light, precisely balanced MAHLE high-performance forged pistons with lower compression and increased mechanical strength.

Larger superchargers were used with the engine to achieve 25-percent more space for the air volume. Instead of the 20-inch wheels that were initially installed on the €252,100 car, engineers decided to use 19-inch wheels for the speed run. The wheels were wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Tires.

The G-POWER technology is available for all current BMW M5 and BMW M6 models. The G-POWER SK III bi-supercharger engine conversion with 750 hp / 551 kW starts at 56,000 Euros.

372 km/h - The World's Fastest Sedan

G-POWER HURRICANE RR based on the BMW M5

G-POWER M5 HURRICANE RR

800 hp / 588 kW at 7.500 r/min (+ 293 hp / 215 kW)
800 Nm at 5.000 r/min (+ 180 Nm)
Top speed: 372 km/h
0-100 km/h: 4,35s
0-200 km/h: 9,5s
0-100 km/h: 25,8s
Vehicle complete with accessories: starting at € 252.100,00,-- (net)

Following up on the G-POWER M5 HURRICANE RS powered by a G-POWER twin-supercharger engine with 750 hp/551 kW, which has set the record for the ‘world's fastest sedan' at 367,4 km/h in early 2010, G-POWER did it again. But this time with 372 km/h! With this target in mind, the development for the new evolutionary HURRICANE RR with 800 hp began.

A few weeks ago, the air is tight with tension when the G-POWER engineers give their "go" for the M5 HURRICANE RR to manage the ultimate test: High Speed. It takes only a few minutes to change the standard 20 inch G-POWER forged wheels to 19 inch ones. The wheels, especially fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport tires that Michelin are certified for top speeds of more than 370 km/h. The HURRICANE RR is ready to go, the test track as well. Apart from the swop of the wheels the HURRICANE RR is completely standard and relies predominantly on its power of the bi-supercharger engine. And just a few laps later it is done. The analysis of the engineers states a top speed of 372,1 km/h. World record! Once again...

To achieve this extreme performance, the twin supercharger system of the high-revving V10 has been redesigned. The two superchargers named ASA T1-313 have been replaced by larger ASA T1-316 units. They are both driven by a belt and do provide each cylinder bank with supercharged air. This means more space for the supercharged air by up to 25 percent. The air volume being transported by these modified superchargers is able to generate a theoretical power output of more than 900 hp.

The pre-compressed air from the superchargers is cooled for a maximum power output. A complicated aluminium casting - painted in G-POWER orange - replaces the standard air box on top of the engine, and its direct inlet is responsible for the spontaneous response characteristics which give the G-POWER motor its incomparable response and also much more torque.

The inner workings of the 10-cylinder, four-valve engine are optimised by light, precisely balanced MAHLE high-performance forged pistons with lower compression and increased mechanical strength. As the standard connecting rods and piston pins were equally not up to the considerably increased forces, here too, recourse was had to special parts.
An optimized mapping of the engine electronics also contributes to the increased power output of 800 hp / 588 kW, available between 7,500 and 8,000 rpm. The engine delivers its peak of torque of 800 Nm at 5,000 rpm.

But the G-POWER HURRICANE RR does not only set new performance standards for top speed. With an acceleration of just 4.35 seconds from nought to 100 km/h, 9.5 seconds up to 200 km/h and 25,8 seconds up to 300 km/h the two-ton sedan is also leading his class.

The G-POWER technology is available for all current M5 and M6 models. The G-POWER SK III bi-supercharger engine conversion with 750 hp / 551 kW starts at 56,000 Euros (net).

In addition to the most powerful BMW engine ever being fitted to a street-legal BMW M5 a new aerodynamic for maximum efficiency was key. The HURRICANE RR is equipped with the G-POWER "HIGHLINE" body kit. In addition to provide the necessary downforce the body kit is also designed to provide significant more air flow to cool the engine. The body kit consists of front and rear skirts and spoilers, doors render and the rear spoiler.

Two tons of weight and a top speed of 372.1 km/h naturally require extreme demands on the tires, being fitted on special G-POWER forged wheels. Our technology partner Michelin provided high-performance Pilot Sport tires in the dimensions 255/35 ZR 19 at the front axle and 305/30 ZR 19 at the rear axle for this reason. For every day use the G-POWER HURRICANE RR runs on 20-inch Silverstone CLUBSPORT wheels with the dimensions 245/35 ZR 20 and 285/30 ZR 20 front and rear.

Even more contributions to the HURRICANE RR's high-speed talents are coming from a G-POWER high-performance brake system and the height-adjustable G-POWER RS coilover suspension that is adjustable for both compression and rebound in nine settings.

The interior of the record car features a tachometer reading up to 400 km/h, clear-coated carbon-fiber panels for the dashboard, center console and door panels. An ergonomically shaped G-POWER sports steering wheel with especially perforated Kjerba Nappa leather is completing this package.

The G-POWER HURRICANE RR can be ordered as a complete car starting at 251,100 Euros. Any current M5 model - sedan or station wagon - can also be equipped with the individual G-POWER components of the world record holder.
