VW beetle is new generation of Beetle car. This car has its debut on the Shanghai Auto Show and in the New York Auto Show.

The exterior makeup is limited for now to Beetle RS graphics finished in orange on either side of the car, the blacked out chrome strips on the lower part of the doors and the front grille, plus the 3M Titanium Brushed wrap for the rear VW logo. The team’s next upgrade will include a 997 GT3 RS-style rear wing.

With the big wheels installed, the front brakes really looked tiny. So we called our friends at APR and ordered up a set of Brembo Stage II front brakes. The kit includes 14" front two-piece cross drilled rotors, four-piston radial mount calipers, aluminum mounting brackets, stainless braided lines and pads. These too bolted right up with no issues and look great filling up the front wheels.

Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid Version 2.0


Porsche has announced that they will be entering an improved version of the Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid into the upcoming Nürburgring 24 hour race on June 25, 2011. Priority of the new car’s development was given to the improvement of efficiency through the targeted optimization of hybrid components, which also resulted in a 20 percent weight reduction. Version 2.0 of the 911 GT3 R Hybrid is intended to achieve the same lap times as its predecessor but with even less fuel consumption.

The Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid Version 2.0 is powered by a hybrid system that combines a 480 HP 4.0 Liter flat six engine placed in the rear with two electric motors that drive the front wheels. The two motors will add an extra 200 HP (100 hp each) as opposed to the 150 HP offered on the first model. This power is automatically activated through the throttle pedal and can be quickly called upon when zipping around a competitor. Other than situations where the extra power can be used to overtake the competition for a few seconds, the Porsche will rely on the 4.0L engine for its stamina.

The other main difference with the new hybrid system is that the flywheel accumulator and other hybrid system components will be housed in a new carbon fibre safety cell positioned in the passenger-side area of the interior. This means these components, previously exposed to heat, won’t need to be cooled by aerodynamic-hindering large vents in the rear haunches. This means Version 2.0 will more slippery through the air.

Overall, the new 911 GT3 R Hybrid Version 2.0 now weighs 1300kg, a 50kg reduction from the previous car's weight of 1350kg. The interior has also been updated, with the displays and controls moved to the steering wheel. According to Porsche, drivers can operate the rest of the functions via backlit buttons now situated on the centre console.

Nürburgring 24 hour race

Porsche lines up with an even more efficient 911 GT3 R Hybrid

Stuttgart. Porsche takes up the Nürburgring 24 hour race on 25 June with a further developed version of the Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid. Priority of the development was given to the improvement of efficiency through the targeted optimisation of hybrid components, which also resulted in a 20 percent weight reduction. Version 2.0 of the 911 GT3 R Hybrid is intended to achieve the same lap times as its predecessor but with less fuel consumption.

The general layout of the hybrid was adopted from the 2010 model. A portal axle with two electric motors drives the front wheels and supplements the four-litre, depending on the balance of performance classification approximately 470 hp, six-cylinder boxer engine at the rear. The output of both electric motors has increased from 60 to 75 kilowatts each. For seconds at a time, pilots now have almost an additional 200 hp at their disposal with the 911 GT3 R Hybrid 2.0. Depending on the programming, this power is automatically activated through use of the throttle pedal. Moreover, pilots can manually call up this extra power, for instance when overtaking.

The electric flywheel accumulator, with its rotor spinning up to 40,000 rpm and stor-ing energy mechanically as rotational energy, is now housed with the other hybrid components in a carbon fibre safety cell on the passenger's side.

At first glance, the new GT3 R Hybrid is clearly distinguishable from the 2010 model. Thanks to the optimisation of the hybrid system's high voltage components, the large louvres in front of the rear fenders were no longer necessary. This reduces drag and also lowers fuel consumption. All in all, the weight of the vehicle decreased from 1,350 to 1,300 kilograms.

"We've collected a great deal of information from our races on the Nürburgring, at the ALMS race at Road Atlanta in the USA, as well as from the ILMC race on China's Zhuhai circuit, which was an invaluable help for the further development of our racing laboratory," says Hartmut Kristen, head of Porsche motorsport. "The emphasis of our work was on improving efficiency. That means we want to keep the lap times consis-tent with 2010 but use less energy, hence less fuel. In this way, we support future developments of road-going, sporting hybrid vehicles."

The cockpit of the 911 GT3 R Hybrid has also been completely revised. Most of the displays and controls have moved to the steering wheel. Drivers can operate the rest of the functions via backlit buttons now situated on the centre console. Priority was placed on the ergonomics and the clear layout for pilots - particularly in darkness.

The new 911 GT3 R Hybrid is a perfect example of the ‘Porsche Intelligent Perform-ance' philosophy, a principle found in every Porsche: More power on less fuel, more efficiency and lower CO2 emissions - on the race track and on the road.

Porsche releases new Cajun in detail


The new Porsche Cajun baby SUV will be built alongside the Cayenne and Panamera at the company's factory in Leipzig, Germany.

Since its inauguration in 2002, this plant has been producing the Cayenne. After its first expansion, the four-seater Panamera Gran Turismo has been built there since 2009, which is produced in a model mix with the Cayenne. With the plans for the plant to become a full-fledged production for the Cajun along with body assembly line and paint shop, it is said that it will create about 1000 new jobs at Porsche in Leipzig along with even more opportunities created in Zuffenhausen and Weissach.

The Cajun is expected to be derived from the platform of the Audi Q5. Engines are said to include a pair of 3.0-liter V6s, with the normally aspirated version developing 290 horsepower and the twin-turbo unit making 350 hp.

The new "light and easy to handle" Cajun will be released in late 2012 or early 2013.

Porsche builds the new "Cajun" in Leipzig


Stuttgart/Leipzig. The decision about the production site for the fifth model line of the Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, has been taken: The new vehicle with the project designation "Cajun" will be manufactured at the Porsche plant in Leipzig. This was decided by the supervisory board. The monitoring body authorised the board of management to finalise plans for the Saxony plant to become a fully-fledged production site for the "Cajun" including body assembly line and paint shop. Within the context of the Cajun production, at least one thousand new jobs are to be created in Leipzig, and additional new jobs at Porsche in Zuffenhausen and Weissach. Subject to approval by the authorities, construction work at the 400 hectare (1.54 square miles) site is scheduled to begin in 2011.

"During the production of the Cayenne and the Panamera, our Leipzig plant has impressively proved that it can produce premium vehicles of highest quality," says Matthias Müller, chairman of the Porsche AG board of management. "The decision in favour of this location is proof of our trust in the skills and qualifications of our Leipzig associates, and at the same time another contribution to the economic advancement of the region."

Uwe Hück, chairman of the group works council, said: "I am happy that I can sit back now. We had tough but fair negotiations. The employees' representatives have always been convinced that it is worthwhile to make the "Cajun" at our Saxony plant. At the end of the day, the high flexibility and productivity of our colleagues, male and female, has convinced the management board and the supervisory board to produce the "Cajun" in Leipzig. We are therefore very happy that the supervisory board authorised the board of management to plan the expansion of the Leipzig plant and turn it into a fully-fledged factory. The production of the Cajun is a very good sign for Leipzig. However, we cannot rest now but have to start talks about a further expansion of the Zuffenhausen plant in order to adapt our parent plant to future growth, too."

Burkhard Jung, mayor of the city of Leipzig, said: "The decision of the Porsche AG proves yet again that Leipzig with its professional city administration is an attractive, cosmopolitan city and, therefore, an international business site with a future."

With the efficient and agile "Cajun", Porsche extends its SUV segment which is in high demand all over the world. In addition to the new generation of the Cayenne which has clearly managed to strengthen its market position as one of the most successful sporty off-road vehicles in the premium segment, the light and easy-to-handle "Cajun" so typical of a Porsche will create further momentum. As an attractive entry-level modeI, it is expected to pave the way for new, even younger customers to enter the world of Porsche, in addition to the Boxster as the market leader among the two-seat mid-engine sports cars.

Since its inauguration in 2002, the highly modern plant in Saxony, Germany, has been producing the Cayenne. After its first expansion, the Gran Turismo Panamera four-seater has been built there since 2009. It is produced in a model mix with the sporty off-road vehicle. Up until today, Porsche has invested around 280 million euro in Leipzig.

2011 Geneva Motor Show: Ruf Rt 12R


The German tuning specialists RUF are ready with their new model called Rt 12 R – based on the latest Porsche 911. The car is exhibited in Geneva and will definitely catch the attention of the audience.

The RT 12 (for 12th generation of RUF-tuned 911 Turbos) has received a power boost for the R model, taking its output to 730hp and torque to 693lb ft. The car receives a prominent rear wing similar to the one fitted to the GT3 RSR race car, and also gets a carbon fibre bonnet and front bumper. Inside, a new grade of steel has been used for the integral roll cage saving 8kg and the interior is stripped of luxuries.

With an overall dry curb weight of 3,295 pounds, the Rt 12 R will hustle to 62 mph in under 4.0 seconds and go all the way to reach a top speed of more than 230 mph.

On the outside RUF details this racer with carbon components including a rear spoiler, bonnet and front mudguards. Also part of the outfitting are lightweight doors made of aluminum and side and rear windows out of plastic. Optional is the carbon roof.

The twin-turbo boxer engine with 3.8 liter engine provides 537 kW (730 hp) with maximum torque of 940 Nm. Power is transmitted via a six-speed manual transmission, four-wheel drive provides maximum driving dynamics. The weight-optimized R, with details of the racing, is ideal for racing. The suspension is adjustable.

The price of the RUF Rt 12 R is set at €279,000 or about US$386,400 at today’s exchange rates.

German car manufacturer has even released a video preview of the Porsche Semper Vivus Hybrid.

From concept cars to new technology, these events are held as a big show and tell for the world’s automakers. So, when a company brings out something that’s over 100 years old to debut at one of these events, it seems a bit odd.

They spent four years at Porsche Museum recreating this magnificent vehicle so it can once again, after 111 years on, drive into the limelight at the Geneva Motor Show 2011 followed by future appearances as part of the Porsche Museum collection in Stuttgart.

Next week, 111 years after this ground breaking innovation by Ferdinand Porsche, the Semper Vivus will again drive into the limelight at the Geneva Motor Show 2011 followed by future appearances as part of the Porsche Museum collection in Stuttgart.

Appropriately, Porsche is putting the spotlight of its presence at the 81st Geneva Motor Show on the world premiere of a contemporary parallel full hybrid model. In the wake of the success of the Cayenne S Hybrid it signals a new chapter in the Stuttgart company's ‘Porsche Intelligent Performance' philosophy. Along with the Semper Vivus, the new hybrid model is being unveiled on March 1, 2011 at the press conference to be held on the Porsche stand in Hall 1, stand number 1050, starting at 07:30.

These world premieres in Geneva are being complemented by the 918 RSR hybrid racing car concept, making its first public appearance in front of a European audience. The mid-engine coupé combines the design of the 918 Spyder with the technology of the 911 GT3 R hybrid racing car.

Porsche is also showcasing the 330 hp (243 kW) Cayman R in Europe for the first time, alongside the the 911 Black Edition, limited to 1,911 units, based on the 345 hp (254 kW) 911 Carrera, and the Boxster S Black Edition, limited to 987 units worldwide.

2011 Porsche Cayenne TITAN EVO XL 600 by speedART


German tuner SpeedArt has announced plans to introduce the Titan EVO XL 600 at the Geneva Motor Show.

SpeedArt’s new tuning kit is based on the Cayenne Turbo and, as its name suggests, updates to the engine allow the SUV to get 600 HP (up from a standard 500 HP) and 627 lbs-ft of torque. Adding to the package is a new flashy bodykit with striping similar to the Porsche 997 GT3 RS MkII and many other new components, including new front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and a new exhaust system. Finishing the sporty look of the Cayenne is a new set of 23-inch forged alloy wheels.

On the technical side SpeedART outfittes the SUV with a new exhaust system and a performance upgrade. The Porsche Cayenne Diesel receives 50 extra horsepower, the Hybrid 70hp, and the Turbo 100hp and 150Nm of torque. So the ‘600′ in the name of the program stands for the 600hp power upgrade in the Porsche Cayenne Turbo. A 650hp and 700hp program are in the making.

The newest innovation of the german Porsche Tuner speedART is called TITAN-EVO-XL 600 and it is based on the new Porsche Cayenne Turbo. Here´s an overview of the speedART modifications:

Aerodynamic:
The wide body version of speedARTs aerodynamic-kit for the Cayenne 958 is called TITAN-EVO-XL and consists of the sporty front chin spoiler, the rear diffuser and the wider fender flares including the new door planking. As a result we get a whole new wide-body-design which fits optimally to the performance increased engine of the new speedART Cayenne.

Performance:
speedART provides different power kits for the Turbo engine. The strongest version of the original 500 hp engine will perform 600 hp and 850 NM of torque and will consist of a motronic-update as well as a modified exhaust system. Especially for hot countries improved intercoolers are being prepared. A power upgrate for about 650 - 700 hp is also in preperation.

Sound:
A sport exhaust system (optionally with sound switch control) and 2x100 mm twin tailpipes has been developed from speedART for the new Cayenne. As a result the sporty sound of the V8 engine and the performance upgrade are both even more accoustically emphasised. As top of the range a sport exhaust manufactured in leight weight Titian is optionally availiable.

Wheels:
In interaction with the more sporty driving performances we mount a forged 23" wheel of the type speedART CTS-FORGED. This forged and weight optimised single piece wheel set is available in 11x23'' with 315/25 ZR23 tyres. Through the special forged technology the weight of our CTS rim is only 16,8 Kg which means there won´t be any additional consumption or comfort losses because of the bigger wheels. Obviously there are also modular 22" wheels availiable as a forged version.

Suspension:
For vehicles with air suspension we offer a special electronical lowering module.

Interior:
As a highlight speedART provides single carbon shell-type seats and a multi-media-unit with iPad and iPod-docking-station.

FALKEN Porsche 997 GT3 R


FALKEN Motorsports selects Porsche 911 GT3 R for 2011 Nürburgring 24 Hour

Long time participant in the Nürburgring 24 Hour race, FALKEN Motorsport Team, has signalled its intent for this year’s event (June 25th-26th) with the decision to run a highly competitive GT3 R specification Porsche 911.

The high performance tyre manufacturer’s decision to switch to the competitive Porsche follows a successful history of campaigning Japanese sports cars in the ADAC Zurich 24-Hour Race and ties in with increasing activity of the brand in the region. “With FALKEN High Performance Tyres and Porsche, two premium motorsport brands are coming together. This comes at a time when we are increasing our commitment in Europe, with an intention to expand further,” says FALKEN’s Marketing Director, Satoru Ushida.

Drivers for the 2011 race, an assault that will be used to develop the next generation of FALKEN tyres, are still to be announced but in line with the team’s preparations, the selection is likely to focus on those with extensive Nürburgring experience. “It is our aim to improve our race results from the past. Last year we achieved 12th place overall and 3rd place in the SP7 class and put our performance to the test at the highest level,” adds Ushida.

The 2011 race will take place on the unique Nordschleife on June 25th-26th. With 33 left-hand and 40 right-hand curves, the famous strip of asphalt snakes through the hilly Eifel landscape. In the 2010 Long-Distance Championship (VLN) held at the track, nine out of the ten races were won by the Porsche 911 GT3 R.

About the Porsche 911 GT3 R:
The 911 GT3 R is powered by a six-cylinder, naturally-aspirated boxer engine with four litres of displacement, which generates 480 horsepower (353 kW) at 7,250 rpm. Through a six-speed sequential dog-type gearbox, the power is transmitted to the rear axle. Traction control, the electronically controlled double de-clutching function and a specially tuned racing ABS make the 911 GT3 R a highly competitive vehicle.
Wheels: Front axle: One-piece, forged, lightweight alloy wheels (11J x 18 ET 35) and 290/660R18 tyres.
Rear axle: One-piece, forged, lightweight alloy wheels (13J x 18 ET 12.5) and 330/710R18 tyres.

About the ADAC Zurich 24-Hour Race:
The ADAC Zurich 24-Hour Race at the Nürburgring has been held on the approximately 25km long combination of the Nordschleife and Grand-Prix track since 1970. The long lap length makes a field of more than two hundred vehicles possible, which are driven by up to approximately 700 drivers. Due to the large starting field and more than 200,000 fans that line the track, the race is regarded by some as the largest motorsports event in the world. In 2011, it will be held from the 23rd to 26th June.

2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR


Porsche has unveiled the 2011 911 GT3 RSR,which will debut on Dec. 11 at the Porsche R&D center in Weissach, Germany.

The new 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR comes with a 4.0-litre, 6-cylinder boxer engine that now develops 455 hp (355 kW) at 7,800 rpm and 450 Nm of torque. The maximum rev range of the 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR continues to be 9,400 rpm.

The transmission is a six-speed manual with sequential jaw-type shifting, a single-mass flywheel, hydraulic disengagement lever, a three-plate carbon-fiber clutch and a limited slip differential. The body consists mostly of steel but thanks to a series of weight saving modifications, the whole car tips the scales at just 2,689 pounds.

The 911 GT3 RSR also includes aero modifications, including a new front lip to increase downforce. The German automaker increased the size of the front wheels from 11 inches to 12 inches for better grip and less understeer.

The 911 GT3 RSR joins the 911 GT3 R and the 911 GT3 Cup at the very top of Porsche Motorsport’s lineup and costs a mere EUR 410,000 plus country-specific value added tax. If you already own a GT3 RSR and want the extra power and aerodynamic mods, but don’t want to spend almost half a million euros on a new car, the modifications are available as a kit for GT3 RSR cars from the 2010 season.

Debut for the 2011 version of the world's most successful GT race car



Stuttgart. The Porsche 911 GT3 RSR takes off into the new motorsport season with extensive modifications. The 2011 version of the world's most successful GT race car celebrated its international premiere at the "Night of Champions" party held at the R&D Centre in Weissach to mark the end of the motorsport season. Priority in the further development of the GT3 RSR was given to the newly designed aerodynamics at the front and rear, changes to the suspension kinematics and to the engine.

The 4.0-litre, six-cylinder boxer engine now delivers 455 hp (355 kW) at 7,800 revs, five horsepower more than its predecessor. The power increase results from an engine management system which adapts even better to different fuel grades, as well as a redesigned exhaust system and a modified air intake housing. Moreover, the driveability of the famously efficient engine has undergone further improvements. Maximum revs remain unchanged at 9,400 rpm.

Clearly visible are the modifications to the front. A new front lip provides higher downforce at the front axle. The front wheels are now wider with the rims growing from 11 to 12 inches giving additional grip and less of an understeering tendency. The position of the rear wing and the shape of the wing mounting also underwent optimisation and were adapted to the new rear fairing with additional air outlet louvers. The rear lid was also redesigned for optimised air ducting. Like the 911 GT3 Cup and the GT3 R, the RSR has now been equipped with the LED rear lights taken from the latest 911 road-legal cars.

The 911 GT3 RSR joins the 911 GT3 R and the 911 GT3 Cup as the top model of Porsche Motorsport's product range. The successful long distance racer from Weissach can be ordered now at a price of 410,000 Euro plus country-specific value added tax.
